For Runners
Running is a wonderfully simple way to move, train, clear your head and spend time outside.
And there are many different reasons to run.
Maybe you run because it is accessible and fits into a busy everyday life. Maybe you are just getting started. Perhaps you enjoy trails and being in nature, or you use running as part of your cardiovascular training. Maybe running gives you space to think and de-stress.
Maybe you love running. Maybe you just do it because you know it is good for you.
Whatever your reason, good running technique and a training programme that fits your body, your goals and your life will make running more enjoyable and sustainable.
Who I work with
My approach to running is primarily for people who want to use running as part of a healthy and active life.
I particularly enjoy working with:
- Beginners who want to start running
- Recreational runners
- People using running to improve cardiovascular fitness
- Trail runners
- People returning to running after time away
- Runners experiencing pain or recovering from injury
- People who want running to fit realistically into a busy life
If your main goal is to shave seconds off your race time, become as fast as possible or compete at a high level, I am probably not the right running coach for you.
Why I run
I love running, but my own relationship with it has changed considerably over the years.
I have been through a bit of a love/hate relationship with running, had some bad painfull knees issues, and experimented with different footwear, techniques and approaches to training. What I have learnt has completely changed the way I run today.
I am much less interested in chasing times and much more interested in running with a purpose.
Depending on the day, I run for:
- Zone 2: to develop aerobic endurance
- Zone 5: to challenge my cardiovascular system and improve VO₂ max
- Longer distances: for endurance and the experience itself
- Trail running: to be outside, move over varied terrain and spend time in nature
- De-stressing: to get fresh air and create space in my day
- Connection: as a way of spending time with family and friends
Running can contribute to cardiovascular fitness, aerobic capacity, endurance and overall physical health. It can also be an accessible way to spend time outdoors, move your body and create a break from everyday demands.
Running Assessment & Guidance
I offer running assessments where we look at your goals, current training, running technique and any areas that may be limiting you.
From there, we can work on creating an approach that is realistic, sustainable and appropriate for what you want to achieve.
I can also help you start running as a beginner, return to running after an injury, and combine running rehabilitation with manual therapy and strength training when appropriate.
You are very welcome to contact me if you would like some help with your running.
